It was a really hectic year (pour moi) with little time to really get into collecting or enjoying toys. Transformers wise, there’s the contrast between some of the crappiest toys ever released in the form of the DOTM line and some of the very best in the form of the Generations line. Well, I’m gonna end the year with a high note. Reviewed today are RTS Special Ops Jazz, Turbo Tracks & Wreck-Gar, WFC Rage Over Cybertron 3 pack, Generations Sergeant Kup, Scourge, Thundercracker, Warpath and Wheeljack. It’s crazy how many of these toys just got released here locally for $5-$8 each… good things come to those who wait I guess.

It was a great year for the 3rd instalment of the Transformers trilogy (money wise of course… it stank substance wise), but it was quite a lacklustre year for DOTM toys. Many of the offerings were recolors of old toys while others were crappy newcomers. Of course you do get the rare gems here-and-there… but mostly it’s blah. Now the post boxing day mega-sales come along and you get ridiculous pricing like 40% off all Transformers and $6 for all deluxe figures… so I have little excuse for not getting some. Reviewed today are DOTM Cyberverse Ark Set, Hatchet & Powerglide, deluxe Crankcase, Jolt & Topspin, voyager Megatron & Skyhammer… and leader Ironhide.

These latest product releases from FansProject are homages to the original three G1 insecticons; designed with the same dedication to perfection as their other products. These guys are now made of a softer, more rubbery type of plastic vs. the hard Lego-like plastic of their previous figures. It actually translates quite well with their toy designs and provides greater joint flexibility. They have the same mass as a deluxe sized figure for the cost of $50 each… which is about right.

There are many versions of recipes with beef, Thai basil and fish sauce… well, now here’s mine. It’s a hardier dish compared to the ground beef or salad versions and should prove more filling and keeps the taste of the beef. Why have hamburger when you can have steak? Anyway… here it goes.

I had a chance to play and finish Gears of War 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. All three were super enjoyable and the last was insanely addictive (plus time consuming). Just think though; the time you waste playing games could have been wasted on traffic, going out in bad weather, shopping aimlessly, school, work, etc…

The Pros:
- Awesome battloid, gerwalk and fighter modes.
- Improvements to every aspect of Bandai’s valk designs.
- Lots of articulation and poseability.
- Toy feels sturdy and all parts snap together tightly.
- Insane amount of gimmicks.
- The super parts aren’t as bad as they seemed to be.
The Cons:
- Nothing… except maybe for the super parts.

The scout sized HA series haven’t sold well or been well received by collectors or kids. Maybe because they cost almost as much as a deluxe sized toy or the fact that they just aren’t that great to start with. I get them for their little poseable riders but many others also get them for their 3rd/weapons modes. Still, I wouldn’t recommend buying these guys unless they are on sale to start with.

The Nirvash was never an impressive looking design at any level. Eureka 7 was a cool anime but its mechs were laughable at best. Neither were Bandai’s figure releases for this series… until now that is. There’s something super-cool when you super-deform at toy… so much so that its adorableness overcomes all logic and common sense.
